Hallo, bertemu kembali, sesi kali ini akan membawakan mengenai Thumbpick vs Fingers vs Nails vs Pick'n'Claw - The Guitar Journal simak selengkapnya
I’m inside the midst about an internal debate. What picking method to I invest practice time in? I’ve played in the company of picks, about course, over the years. Especially appropriate to electric. I’ve use my fingers including not-so-long nails appropriate to acoustic. Especially appropriate to fingerstyle. I’ve experimented in the company of Chet-Atkins-Tommy-Emmanuel manner thumbpicks.
But I’m not satisfied in the company of my increase on top of any about these fronts. Where work I focus?
Some Background:
I’m focusing on top of fingerstyle playing true now. So thumbpicks or fingers makes sense. Right now, my fingers (without elongated established nails) produce to soft including muted about a sound. But it feels great. Thumbpicks are delightful appropriate to mixing styles, picking runs including fingerstyle passages. But it doesn’t suffer at all natural yet. Do I fill out nails to compensate appropriate to the muted tone? Put inside the hours on top of a thumbpick? Go rogue including work pick’n’claw method?
And whatever I do, I want to follow Arnold Schwarzenegger’s advice: “Reps, reps, reps”. There’s no advancement without puttin’ inside the hours. So I want to put inside the hours on top of the true thing.
The Answer
The true inquiry (as you before guessed) is: Who work you want to sound like?
Ok, that was two questions. So the goal is to choose a method that produces the sound you want including allows you to play the songs you want.
So. In order to work that, I did a uncomplicated 5-minute survey. I listed which about my favorite players use which technique. Feel for free to use this to tell your own decision making. And please leave me comments below on top of other players that I can add to the list!
*Caveat: Most players use multiple techniques. I tried to inventory the method that a player is nearly all known to use.
The List
Thumbpick
- Tommy Emmanuel
- Emile Ernebro
- Adam Rafferty – (Adam has a delightful post on top of this subject here)
- Chet Atkins
- Jerry Reed
Fingers With Nails

- Don Ross

Epilogue
Grouping players by true hand technique yields some interesting perspective. Though I keep listed the nearly all players inside the “Fingers in the company of Nails” category, I don’t believe I want to go that route. Why? Because these players seem focused on top of single manner about music. Tommy Emmanuel, Joe Pass, including Eric Johnson strike me while having more diversity about type including format (band vs solo).
I believe thumbpicks are the spot appropriate to me to focus including fill out true now.
